Dr. O.P. Bhalla Central Library, Manav Rachna International University (MRIU), Faridabad organized a regional workshop for research scholars, library professionals and academicians on the wealth of resources available for academic pursuits.
Over 100 participants from Delhi-NCR Region, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, participated in the workshop. It was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) M.K. Soni, Pro-Vice Chancellor, MRIU; Ms. Kala Anjan Dutta, Former Director, The American Library, New Delhi; Dr. H.K. Kaul, Founding Director Delnet; Prof. (Dr.) Naresh Grover, Dean Academics; Dr. Sangeeta Kaul, Network Manager, Delnet and University Librarian, Mr. Vikram Kr. Sharma, deliberated on varied aspects of knowledge management, information processing, open source software, emerging technologies in Library and Information Science, emotional intelligence and academic integrity.
Ms. Dutta, while addressing the audience shared her experience of working with the U.S. Government Library and reiterated the fact that the Libraries are the cornerstone of democracy and Librarians play a very important role in the Society.
Dr. Kaul elaborated the various initiatives, services, resources and facilities provided by the Delnet, a Ministry of Culture, Government of India supported Institute, towards digitization, networking and professional development of libraries across India.
Delnet, Developing Library Network, in its silver jubilee year is the apex organization promoting resource sharing amongst 6000 institutions in South Asia. The program concluded with a visit to Dr. O.P. Bhalla Central Library, Q&A Session and certificate distribution to the participants.
